Although smartphones are one of the most frequently used items for cooking to navigation, streaming entertainment and socializing, many people forget how important it is to stop every once in a while to clean a phone that collects debris and bacteria.
Gmarket collaborated with INNORED-Kinneir Dufort and came up with a phone-sanitizing concept that could be used in a casual coffee shop. The design of the machine sources from one of the most familiar and user-friendly appliances in the home—the toaster oven.
Rather than emitting heat and giving a piece of toast a nice golden brown coating, the Green Toaster has two slots where phones can be placed. Once the lever is pulled, the phones are taken inside the device for a five-minute deep cleaning by UV light. In the same way that toast pops out of a toaster, so do the phones when they are ready.
