Self-Assembled E-Bikes

The City Vanture E-Bike Uses Mortise and Tenon Connectors for its Frame

Vanpowers Bike launched a fundraising campaign for the 'City Vanture,' a lightweight e-bike with a unique frame build. The frame of the City Vanture is conjoined via mortise and tenon joints, essentially shaped pieces of aluminum with connectors that, when joined together, will not slide loose under regular use. Vanpowers Bike takes advantage of this frame structure by shipping the bike disassembled and allowing customers to put it together themselves, which reduces shipping costs.

Aside from the frame build, the City Vanture is a traditional e-bike with a 350w rear motor that delivers a top speed of 25 mph. The bike delivers approximately 50 miles of range per charge, and takes roughly two hours to charge. It is important to note that, while the specifications are currently set in stone, Vanpowers Bike stated that its City Vanture bike will be customizable in the future, meaning the company may release upgraded replacement parts.
