Feminist Writer, Carly Pifer, Launches Online Publication AURORE

An accomplished writer, Carly Pifer, is launching an online publication called AURORE that's focused on feminist and queer storytelling.

The brand name AURORE is derived from the 19th-century author, Amantine Lucile Aurore Duin, who wrote under the pseudonym, George Sand. Pifer states the author was "a woman attempting to succeed in a man’s world, and was known to dress as a gentleman to enter spaces restricted to women; by reclaiming her true name for the site, we give a wink and a nod to her true identity." The publication is focused on inspiring and educating others who may not often see themselves represented. Pifer is hoping to normalize these experiences through the written word.

The magazine is leveraging crowdsourcing to gain funding and stories to populate the site. AURORE will support writers and community outreach and events with funding.
