This Boots Dementia Action Week Initiative is Based on Research

— May 15, 2025 — Lifestyle
This 'Boots Dementia Action Week' initiative is being launched by the retailer in the UK as a way to spark conversation, rekindle memory and offer support for persons affected by dementia.

The initiative consists of the 'Boots Memory Box' that follows on research by professor Victoria Tischler and colleagues at the Universities of Surrey, West London and Nottingham. The box contains a curated range of items that are focused on familiar smells and sounds that will help to trigger memories. The brand will distribute more than 1,000 of the multi-sensory boxes from May 19 through 25, 2025.

Boots Company Archivist Sophie Clapp commented on the Boots Dementia Action Week initiative saying, "With over 175 years of history, Boots is a brand that has been part of people’s lives through generations. Through our memory box initiative, we can use our rich history and extensive archive to spark connections between those affected by dementia and their loved ones and carers over shared memories and experiences — It has been great to see the positive impact the Boots Memory Boxes have had through the research project with Professor Tischler and her team and to see how much the boxes have meant to the care home residents that have received them so far.”
