Drone Book Deliveries

Wing Will Deliver Books to Local Students in Virginia's Montgomery County

Wing, an Alphabet subsidiary, partnered with a library to complete book deliveries to students. The book deliveries will be coordinated by Kelly Passek, who is a librarian for a middle school in Montgomery County, Virginia. Deliveries will be completed using quadcopters, which were developed by Wing and can carry up to three pounds of books. Students can request books using Google Form, and after a request is made Passek will schedule delivery. Students in the area can request up to 150,000 books for no cost.

Wing has been completing small deliveries since 2014, and the current project shows drones can help students continue their studies during remote learning. Additionally delivering books allows Wing to continue to optimize its drone services.
