This Service Allows Boat Owners to Share Their Boat with Others

The latest startup to capitalize on the sharing economy is an Uber-like service for boat owners called 'ShareBoat.' While there are a number of ways for consumers to hitch a ride on dry land, this company wants to make it easier for non-boat owners to get out on the open sea.

Similar to services such as Uber and Lyft, ShareBoat works by sharing resources. Boat owners simply list their boat on the site and non-boat owners can request access to the vessel for a temporary period of time. Captains can choose their crew and vet them before departure. Once aboard, the crew can lend a hand and chip in money to cover the cost of the trip. As a result, boat owners can find like-minded individuals to do everything from deep-sea diving to casual fishing.
