Mobile Gaming Controllers

Sony partnered up with 'Backbone,' an electronic accessory company, to create its first-ever mobile controller, the 'Backbone One.' This is essentially a PlayStation controller that has been optimized for mobile devices in terms of both ergonomics and functions. The controller has been split in two halves in order to attach to either side of a mobile phone, resulting in the screen present in the center.

While many mobile controllers with this configuration exist, there have yet to be official PlayStation-layout controllers for mobile devices. As such, this controller features the button layout of a 'DualSense' controller with additional menu and settings buttons for mobile device configuration. The controllers can connect wirelessly or via USB-C to a mobile device, at which point the mobile device is essentially transformed into a handheld gaming console.

One of the most attractive use cases for the Backbone One is the 'PlayStation Now' streaming application that allows customers to play a large library of Sony games while on the go. Many of these games require features that are specific to PlayStation controllers, making the Backbone One the way to go for mobile PlayStation streaming.
