Axia, the world's first extra-dry Mastiha spirit brand, has officially launched in the United Kingdom before being rolled out in Greece and the United States.
Created by Bacardi family member Adrian Clarke, and fifth-generation ouzo distiller Nikos Kalogiannis, the new specialty liquid aims to shake up the spirit industry by introducing an all-new drinking experience. Mastiha is a spirit made from the resin of mastiha trees, which are found on the Greek island of Chios. The trees deliver a unique botanical that produces floral, pine, and citrus flavors.
“Axia offers a novel experience, a new spirit category that invites bartenders to taste, experiment, and explore this extraordinary liquid," said Tony Chvala, chief executive at Axia Spirit. The new twice-distilled spirit is bottled at a 40% ABV and is available at Master of Malt and The Whisky Exchange.
