This device was created to circumvent the issues of incorrect calibration, which can damage a vinyl record.
The Automat A1 uses an automated tonearm drive mechanism that lowers the arm until it reaches the grooves of the record. The arm then automatically disengages, allowing for a ready-to-play record. The RPM speeds can be set on the Automat A1, though it only offers 33 and 45 RPM by default. The device also boasts various other convenience features fit for a plug-and-play experience, such as an anti-skating cartridge and an anti-magnetic headshell.
The A1 is the first in Pro-Ject's 'Automat' line, which will continue to be improved upon in the future.
