Located on a small private island in Hvaler Norway is an ash-clad cabin with ultra-modern sensibilities and a facade that blends in with the natural surroundings while maximizing the breath-taking scenery for dwellers of the space. The ash-clad cabin is named Kjerringholmen and the building was envisioned and built by the architecture studio Line Solgaard Arkitekter.
Three interconnected volumes make up this structure that seamlessly integrates itself into the surroundings by way of its form and material use. Over time, the ash will "weather [...] to reflect the colors of the rocks." Given that the Kjerringholmen is on a small private island, it is not hard to imagine that the ash-clad cabin with ultra-modern sensibilities was made for an escape from the busy city.
