If you've always wanted a replica of a famous Picasso or Van Gogh painting, now might be your opportunity to own one thanks to an art software algorithm developed at the University of Tubingen. The algorithm, entitled A Neural Algorithm of Artistic Style, allows any picture to be scanned and for it to be recreated using paint.
While this algorithm isn't available yet to the public, its current stage shows impressive promise. The algorithm is able to take any image -- even a shot taken of a public street -- and recreate it using the style of popular painters such as Van Gogh, Edvard Munch, J.M.W. Turner and Wassily Kandinsky. This allows users of the algorithm to turn images they like into masterpieces that the famous painters might have created if they were here today.
