Anna Dawson's Collection Has Ribbon-Shaped Pendants and Hourglass Sconces

— June 9, 2026 — Art & Design
Anna Dawson presented the Ribbon, Dancer, and Twirl lighting collections at ICFF, expanding her exploration of movement through hand-formed glass. Inspired by memories of ribbon dancing with her grandmother, the collection uses curved silhouettes, layered forms, and translucent finishes to translate motion into lighting. Colors including seafoam green, deep burgundy, olive, amber, and warm white shift noticeably when illuminated, emphasizing the material's depth and transparency. The pieces range from table lamps and pendants to wall sconces, each built around soft, flowing geometries.

The Ribbon series features overlapping glass elements that resemble folded ribbons, while the Dancer collection introduces symmetrical and asymmetrical hourglass-shaped sconces illuminated from both ends. Twirl interprets the sensation of spinning through rounded lamp forms and suspended fixtures. The collection highlights the relationship between illumination and materiality through forms that change in appearance as light moves through the glass.

Trend Themes

  1. Kinetic Glass Forms — Sculptural lighting that captures dance-like movement in fixed glass silhouettes signals demand for fixtures that function as both illumination and collectible spatial art.
  2. Color-shifting Illumination — Translucent finishes that transform under different light conditions create potential for adaptive interiors where mood, material depth, and color perception change throughout the day.
  3. Narrative Craft Lighting — Personal memories translated into handcrafted forms reflect a growing market for emotionally resonant design objects with provenance, storytelling, and limited-edition appeal.

Industry Implications

  1. Decorative Lighting — Premium fixture makers are positioned around expressive glass pendants, sconces, and lamps that differentiate interiors through sculptural form rather than purely technical performance.
  2. Interior Design — Residential and hospitality spaces benefit from lighting collections that add fluid geometry, layered color, and atmospheric variation without requiring major architectural changes.
  3. Artisanal Glassware — Hand-formed glass studios gain relevance as designers seek material experimentation, small-batch production, and visually distinctive alternatives to mass-produced lighting components.
