This is 'Aurea' by Amor de Madre, a set of three frame-inspired pieces of home decor that serve as dish drainers, dish storage racks and wine racks. Its simple design looks like something you'd buy from IKEA, which speaks to its usefulness--if only every piece of furniture in our homes was so straightforward and space-efficient.
Implications - By taking one household item and transforming it into another, this designer was able to reinvent without actually reinventing. While some are unable to see the potential designs that can be spawned from current products, others, as was the case here, are able to envision and extrapolate. Brands who can apply this concept of reinventing from existing concepts can unlock tremendous opportunity within their own industries.
