Italian Renaissance painter Raphael's iconic 'School of Athens' painting gets an urban update with the Alt-J 'Tessellate' Video. Alt-J is an alt-rock band from Cambridge that has been making waves in the UK indie scene with its unique sounds.

Directed by Alex Southman, who has worked with the likes of The Walkmen and Fanfarlo, the video is a busy feast for the eyes and ears. It features Alt-J's eerie vocals, a captivating beat and nods to jazz and dubstep.

The video is meant to be an update of Italian Renaissance painter Raphael's fresco Scuola di Atene that resides in the Vatican today. The set is described by the artist as "a modern day gangster's paradise" that depicts urban culture details, triangle motifs and Illuminati references.

Adding a hip-hop twist to the painting certainly brings the classical masterpiece back into relevance for millennial audiences.
