The Alexandros Vasmoulakis Installation Sculptures Stack up High
Gil Cohen — October 12, 2012 — Art & Design
Using a plethora of multimedia materials, the Alexandros Vasmoulakis installation sculptures give a new perspective on the everyday outdoor objects most commonly found on the side of the road.
The freelance artist specializes in outdoor installations and transforms what one might consider to be junk into artistic expression. He stacks car tires into precariously leaning structures, piles up discarded old furniture and planks of wood into a substantially sized mound and puts vibrantly colored crates on top of each other until they seem to reach up to the sky. He even "gilded" a dumpster by covering it in shiny copper-colored pieces, giving it new life as an attractive art piece.
The Alexandros Vasmoulakis installation sculptures reshape the way we see discarded junk by turning it into fantastic street art.
