The Alexander McQueen Fall 2013 Runway Provides Lessons in Divinit

Long revered as one of the lead brands in couture, the Alexander McQueen Fall 2013 ready-to-wear collection was an example of how stunning RTW can be. Lead designer Sarah Burton took inspiration from the divine, and her muse clearly showed up in the ethereal looks that paraded down the runway. Even though it was a small show with ten outfits, they were stunning.

Decorated in lace, applique and chains, the intricacy of the collection was an incredible feat. Volume was another important aspect in the outfits and it was prominent on both the shoulders and hips. Volume was also portrayed by mass amounts of feathers creating movement and depth. The chain-like cages that were over the model’s faces, as well as their thigh-high heels, balanced out the outfits creating a congruity between all the looks. The Alexander McQueen Fall 2013 runway show proved that this brand is still as incredible as it always was.
