Hindi Was Added To the Alexa Skills Kit

Owners of Alexa will now be able to use the device in Hindi, as a result of an update to the Alexa Skills Kit. Hindi can also now be shown on the developers' list of skills. Amazon first announced that Hindi would be added to the Alexa Skill Kit during an AI conference. After the update, Alexa will be fluent in Hindi, where previously it could only process limited amounts of Hinglish, which is an amalgamation of Hindi and English.
Rohit Prasad is the head scientist as well as Vice President for Alexa. He indicated that adding Hindi to the platform was a contextual challenge to incorporate the language into the AI stem. Prasad believes this is due to the different number of accents and dialects used in Hindi.
