In an effort to provide travelers with more than just temporary accommodations, Airbnb has just launched 'Airbnb Adventures.' While the current Airbnb Experience platform is for short activities such as cooking classes and walking tours, the new platform will over overnight excursions. As the company puts it, the new Airbnb Adventures are "hosted journeys to extraordinary places. All you have to do is show up."
Airbnb Adventures are unique overnight excursions that travelers can add on to their trip. These adventures start at just $79 and max out at $5,000 for a 10-night trip. Currently, there are 200 of these adventures to choose from and they span six continents. All of the adventures are intended for small groups of 12 people or less and include unique experiences such as a Slow Food Safari in the Galapagos or visiting an oyster farm in Sweden.
Since its launch, the company's Experiences have been wildly embraced by Millennials and Gen Z travelers. Reports suggest that "the most-booked Experience categories by Gen Z guests in Thailand, [for example], involve food—with two of the top three Experiences [being] learning to cook Thai food, and the top spot [being] a city and food tour." This suggests that younger generations tend to be much more adventurous when it comes to dining.
