AI-Powered Home Security Features

Apple Home Enables AI Summarize Videos Summaries

Apple has added Apple Intelligence capabilities to Apple Home that bring descriptive AI video summaries and natural-language search to compatible security cameras, with a Summarize Videos toggle users can enable. The system works with HomeKit Secure Video-compatible devices and is explicitly opt-in, so owners choose which cameras participate.

The feature surface includes descriptive notification summaries that narrate detected activity and a natural-language search of stored footage. It appears as a new Apple Intelligence option in Home Settings, where users can flip Summarize Videos on and then select individual cameras; supported examples include Aqara’s Camera Hub G350 and Doorbell Camera G400. Updates to Apple TV 4K (2nd-gen or later) and HomePod software are part of the rollout.

These tools make footage quicker to scan and let people search for events like deliveries or animals, turning hours of video into clickable highlights. The capability requires iCloud+ storage tiers tied to camera counts, so consumers must weigh convenience against additional subscription cost.
