This Issue of Useful Photography Focuses on Opening Scenes

For its eighth issue, Useful Photography magazine has compiled images of opening scenes from pornographic films.

Pornography is infamous for its cliche opening scenes, complete with bad dialogue, painful acting and cheesy scenarios that don't even pretend to mimic anything resembling real life. The sole purpose of those introductory moments are to provide a basis, and general atmosphere, for the sexual encounter that will follow. Separated from the lewd context, the images become even more comical and revealing; each photograph exposing the charade of erotic fantasy.

The entire volume consists of awkward and artificial images that parody the pornography genre and the way it reduces gender, sexuality and desire to the most essential, base terms.
