Newmen Components is bringing adjustable-width mountain bike handlebars to riders with the 'Phase,' a carbon bar that lets riders set the width with the grip placement and change it back again. The setup is meant for bikes in rental fleets or any bike used by more than one person, while also giving riders a way to tune fit for different terrain.
The Phase comes in 'XC-Trail' and 'Enduro-Downhill' versions, with the XC-Trail adjustable from 710 mm to 760 mm. Newmen marks the bar so riders can see the setting as they adjust it, then lock it in with the grip collars.
Available now through Newmen's website, the Phase turns handlebar fit into something that can be reset instead of permanently cut down. That flexibility should be especially useful where one bike serves different users, and it gives a mountain-bike category long tied to one fixed width a more practical adjustment path.

What Makes This Trend Stand Out
- Adjustable Bike Fit
- Modular cockpit components create new value in cycling by allowing one bike to accommodate changing rider preferences, terrain demands, and shared-use scenarios without permanent modifications.
- Shared-fleet Personalization
- Rental and demo bike operators gain a differentiated service model when equipment can be rapidly reconfigured for individual users while preserving durability and consistency across fleets.
- Terrain-tuned Components
- Rider-controlled geometry adjustments introduce performance flexibility in mountain biking, turning fixed hardware into adaptable systems suited for cross-country, trail, enduro, and downhill conditions.
Sectors Adopting This
- Cycling Equipment
- Component makers can expand beyond static sizing by developing adjustable carbon, alloy, and ergonomic systems that support broader fit ranges and longer product lifecycles.
- Bike Rental Services
- Fleet-based cycling businesses benefit from hardware that reduces inventory complexity while improving comfort, safety, and usability for riders with different body types and skill levels.
- Outdoor Recreation
- Adaptive gear formats strengthen participation in adventure sports by making high-performance equipment more accessible to groups, travelers, and multi-user environments.
