The structure employs cross-laminated timber and glulam beams, pairing renewable construction methods with the technical requirements of a laboratory setting.

Expansive glazing introduces natural light to reduce energy use and support lab work, while open-plan layouts and high ceilings foster flexibility, airflow, and visual connectivity. Exposed timber surfaces add warmth and human scale to interiors that typically feel sterile, softening the atmosphere for researchers. The building’s high thermal mass stabilizes indoor temperatures, improving comfort and efficiency. By designing for both sustainability and precision, the project demonstrates how biotech architecture can reflect innovation not only in research but also in the spaces where discovery takes place.
