Account-Level Kids Music Exclusions

Spotify Launches Its Kids Music Exclusion Toggle

Spotify introduced a toggle that lets parents exclude kids’ and family music from their taste profiles, keeping child-oriented tracks out of personal recommendations. The control prevents animated movie songs, family television themes and nursery rhymes from shaping an account owner’s listening profile.

The feature is rolling out globally on mobile for Spotify Free and Premium users, with kids’ music included by default until the exclusion is activated. Excluded tracks will no longer affect Discover Weekly, Daily Mix or Wrapped, and the setting applies retroactively to previously streamed children’s music.

For listeners who share devices with children, the toggle can improve year-end summaries and daily suggestions by separating adult preferences from family listening. Spotify already offers manual exclusions and Managed Accounts for listeners younger than 13, but this provides a simpler account-level control. The update reflects demand for user-controlled personalization and could help Spotify improve recommendation relevance across device-sharing households.
