Personalized Running Playlists

Spotify Running Mode Creates Workout Playlists to Each Session

The Spotify Running Mode feature expands the platform's Fitness hub with AI-generated playlists designed around individual running workouts. Available to Premium members on iOS in the United States, the feature lets users choose from 25 workout presets or customize sessions by selecting workout types such as intervals, pyramid, or steady runs. Additional options include setting a workout duration, enabling BPM matching, and adding motivational audio cues throughout the playlist.

Once a workout is configured, Spotify generates a personalized playlist with transitions intended to match the selected running pace and session length. The feature builds on the popularity of Spotify's AI-powered Prompted Playlists while reintroducing running-focused music customization following the retirement of the platform's original running mode in 2018. The Spotify Running Mode feature is rolling out now for Spotify Premium members on iOS in the United States.health
