Aberargie Distillery introduced Aberargie Expressions, a two-bottle exploration of single-barley single malts that donates £1 per bottle to the Scottish Association of Young Farmers Clubs. The series comprises Golden Promise and Laureate, each showing how a single barley variety shapes a whisky’s profile while supporting rural youth.
Both bottlings were matured using a mix of first-fill Bourbon and Sherry casks and were presented at 48.3% ABV with no chill-filtration. Golden Promise leans rich and pastry-like with notes of stewed apple, brown sugar and baking spices, while Laureate reads fruitier with orange peel, dried fruit layers and a honeyed finish.
The pair will be available from 15 September with a 700ml RRP of £65, giving drinkers a tasting-led way to compare barley varieties. The charitable tie links provenance and community, and it foregrounds barley’s role in single-malt character.
