The 2021 Venice Architecture Biennale will host a project titled ‘The Co-ownership of Action: Trajectories of Elements.’ This exhibition, which explores the potential for material reuse, will be exhibited on the terrace of the Japanese Pavilion. In order to bring this project to life, the country has sent the dismantled remains of a 65-year-old house as a contribution.
Amid the objects presented at the Japanese Pavilion at the 2021 Venice Architecture Biennale include benches that were constructed from the roof of the house, as well as screens that were derived from the old structure’s exterior walls. Yet-to-be-reused elements of the structure are lined up on the floor, waiting.
The theme of the event is ‘How will we live together?’ and curator Kozo Kadowaki and his team have certainly embarked on sustainable alternative to two waste-generating architectural practices.”
