Tokujin Yoshioka is Commissioned for the 2020 Olympic Torch

The 2020 Olympic Torch will draw stylistic inspiration from Japanese cherry blossoms. Undoubtedly a quite appropriate design given the location of the Games, the silhouette of the ceremonious object is designed by Tokujin Yoshioka.
The torch is divided into five sections, with each portraying a petal of the Sakura cherry blossom flower. As this is the traditional flower of Japan, the long-awaited event is staying on-track with its theme. The 2020 Olympic Torch is crafted from aluminum and is rose gold in color. It measures 71 centimeters in length. As Tokyo has made a pledge to be in favor of sustainability during the Olympics, Tokujin Yoshioka's design is made out of materials that have been sourced from a near-construction site.
The hope is that the 2020 Olympic Torch will signify "peace for people across the globe."
