Self promotion has come a long way with the advent and growing popularity of social media and unemployment blogs are just one example of this tendency. Whether it be unique business cards or individuals making pitches to specific companies, self promotion is a necessary fact if you want to get ahead in this 21st century digital age.

I think that unemployment blogs are particularly interesting because they work to promote the jobless in interesting and creative ways. Networking will never be the same again.

Implications - Social media has created the opportunity for people to brand themselves and get their talents recognized. Individuals are acting like companies and thinking about themselves like brands. Companies should consider how they can portray more human-like qualities in the social media space in order to form connections with consumers.
