Valio PROfeel Quark Products Now Come in Paperboard Cups

Valio has announced a new voluntary Green Deal agreement that will see the brand reducing the amount of plastic it uses in its packaging, starting with the Valio PROfeel quark products. The brand will now package the products in recyclable paperboard cups, which will reportedly save 143-tonnes of plastic from being used. The packaging update comes as part of the brand's continued commitment to reducing plastic packaging, which has included eliminating detachable lids and caps, straws and plastic spoons, while also using thinner plastic where possible.

Head of Packaging Development Juhana Pilkama commented on the Valio PROfeel quark products packaging update saying, "Paperboard cups have been used in single-serving yoghurts since 2021. Going forward, all Valio PROfeel quark products will be packaged in recyclable paperboard cups. Valio’s goal is that by the end of 2025, all packaging will be suitable for a true circular economy, meaning that new products can be made from it. We are continuously developing our packaging so that it better aligns with the circular economy and reduces its climate impact. We have added plain-language recycling instructions to our packaging to make recycling as easy as possible for everyone."
