Shoot is a writing instrument created by Sarthak Prajapati, an Industrial Design student at the National Institute of Design in Assam, India. Shortlisted for the 2026 Green Product Award in the Consumer Goods category, the pen is carved from a single piece of bamboo and uses the material as both its structure and grip.
The project takes its name from the young shoots of the bamboo plant, one of the world's fastest-regenerating natural resources. Rather than combining multiple materials, the design relies on bamboo as the primary component throughout the body of the pen.
The pen is refillable, extending its usable lifespan beyond that of conventional disposable ballpoint pens. Prajapati produced the design using low-energy, hands-on manufacturing methods without relying on industrial production processes. The project focuses on material efficiency and longevity through a simple construction that can be reused with replacement ink refills.
