The Huion Note E Combines an IPS Display with Paper-Textured Pen Input

— May 24, 2026 — Art & Design
Huion introduced the Huion Note E as an 8.4-inch Android digital notebook built around a color IPS display with AG nano-etching technology intended to replicate paper-like writing texture. The display uses a 1920 × 1200 resolution panel with 270 PPI pixel density and a 60Hz refresh rate, replacing traditional E-Ink hardware with a full-color screen optimized for annotation, sketching, and document viewing. Anti-glare etched glass and fully laminated construction reduce the gap between the stylus tip and display surface during writing interactions.

The device runs Android 15 on a MediaTek Helio G99 processor with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. Huion paired the notebook with its battery-free PW510 stylus featuring 8,192 levels of pressure sensitivity, tilt recognition, and a report rate exceeding 400 PPS. The Note E measures 7.4 millimeters thick, weighs 348 grams, and includes a 4,500mAh battery with 18W fast charging support alongside a magnetic protective case that folds into a viewing stand.

Trend Themes

  1. Full-color Digital Notebooks — A shift from monochrome E-Ink to high-resolution color displays enables richer multimedia note-taking and integrated visualization within a single portable device.
  2. Paper-textured Display Surfaces — Engineered anti-glare etched glass and nano-etching treatments recreate tactile pen-to-paper feedback to bridge analog handwriting comfort with digital functionality.
  3. High-fidelity Battery-free Styluses — Pressure-sensitive, tilt-aware pens with ultra-high report rates offer near-natural drawing dynamics while removing battery maintenance constraints.

Industry Implications

  1. Education Technology — Classroom and remote learning tools can exploit color annotation and realistic writing feel to enhance engagement, formative assessment, and collaborative study materials.
  2. Creative Software and Hardware — Design and illustration workflows stand to benefit from combined color displays and responsive pens that consolidate sketching, color proofing, and digital editing on one device.
  3. Enterprise Productivity Solutions — Note-taking, document review, and meeting capture systems could be reimagined around a lightweight Android notebook that supports native apps, multimedia markup, and seamless cloud sync.
