Designer Konstantin Diehl designs the new PENTAPA, which is a sustainably made mechanical pencil that is inspired by the functions of a clothespin. The single-body design is made from 100% recycled plastic and Diehl states that "Plastic is good if it is used wisely and long-lasting."
The pencil functions and moves the same way that a clothespin does, applying pressure on the rear pegs, and the mechanism will spread open at the front. When lead is added, the pegs can be released to adjust the height to unveil the right amount of lead. When creating the PENTAPA, the plastic is melted down and poured into a wooden mold to be removed once it becomes solid.
