Daniel Popper’s Human+Nature Exhibit is Rooted in Nature

The Morton Arboretum is a living museum, and its new exhibition 'Human+Nature' is rooted in nature — literally and figuratively. The installations are spread across the Morton Arboretum's 1,700 acres of land, inviting viewers to walk along in nature to find them.

Human+Nature consists of five 15- to 26-foot-tall sculptures created by South African artist Daniel Popper. Each piece is textured and made to look like wood referencing the space it is in, allowing them to reflect on what the trees provide for us. The human-like figures connect and bring the viewer back into nature through the exploration to find the sculptures as well as the grounding of each piece into the earth.

In May of 2022, two new sculptures will be added, one of which, according to the Morton Arboretum website, will be "created to commemorate the Arboretum's Centennial year."
