Artist Wilfrid Wood Draws on Graphic Design Background for Art

Artist Wilfrid Wood is back at it again with his humanistic sculptures. This time around, however, he is not so cartoonishly realistic. Instead, he is much more abstract. Although his artworks are discernibly faces, they have been so randomly constructed with bright colors and odd shapes that they appear more like computer graphics. This is appropriate considering that artist Wilfrid Wood relied on his training in graphic design.

Based in London, England, artist Wilfred Wood's sculptures are quite reminiscent of the childhood staple, Mr. Potato Head. In these cases, however, the mix-and-match look involves anything from random shapes to recognizable objects such as breakfast foods. Artist Wilfred Wood says, "I like them to look precarious, the shapes just touching and playing off each other."
