Rihanna brought umbrellas into pop culture a couple of years ago with her ubiquitous hit song in which she invites her lover to stand under her umbrella, ella ella… Naturally, the huge success of the song elicited Rihanna to release her own line of umbrellas. In fact, that business move was so successful, she recently unleashed its second collection.

And with fashion designer Jean Paul Gaultier getting in on the umbrella business, it is clear that umbrellas are not just simple tools to protect us from the rain or sun anymore. Umbrellas have become a true fashion accessory that is the center of much innovation in both design and functionality.
