Although the designer claims that the overarching inspiration for the Vivienne Tam Fall 2014 Ready-to-Wear collection was the 70s, you can clearly see elements that harken back to the old world.

While 70s-inspired fashion is nothing new, and the success of American Hustle is bringing back the look, Vivienne Tam does it in a unique way. If you look past the brown leather and kaleidoscopic russets, you'll see flowers, lace and doily-like fabrics. At the beginning of the show, green flowers that look vaguely Celtic are used as design details on a number of pieces.

Moving forward in the Vivienne Tam Fall 2014 Ready-to-Wear collection you can see lots of crocheting. Multiple garments were made entirely of the technique. That might sound a little old-lady-like, but the different colors and designs of the dresses and skirts make them interesting enough to be worn and worked by all.
