News Station WPMI-TV informs Alabama drivers with on-the-spot news updates in the form of one line tweets displayed on an electronic billboard. One tweet recently sent a mixed message that (allegedly) resulted in reprimand for those responsible, but provided humor for many passing by.
The billboard pictured 3 of the Station’s News Reporters next to the headline “3 Accused of Gang Rape in Monroeville” as the “Right Now on Twitter” breaking news tweet.
At first glance this billboard ad did appear to be photo-shopped, and with an unoriginal idea at that. But according to blogger Rob Holbert’s “WPMI-TV insiders have confirmed the rumor that the station’s general manager and news director were suspended for a week because of an embarrassing billboard.”
