Super NES Criterion Collection Re-Imagines 16-Bit Classics as Films
For those unfamiliar with The Criterion Collection, it's a film distribution company most notable for its dissemination of critically acclaimed movies as well as for their eclectic movie covers.
These Super NES Criterion Collection covers perfectly emulate that aesthetic, pairing highly artful aesthetics with games that normally feature blobs of pixels. A few of the more notable games in this collection include Metroid, Donkey Kong Country, Street Fighter II and Chrono Trigger.
My favorite cover of the bunch however belongs to Earthbound, which features a pair of bubble gum-colored Converse Chucks alluding to the main character's footwear.
Implications - The demand for nostalgia products is at an all-time high with consumers gradually aging and looking for products that remind them of their youth. This offers these consumers a euphoric sensation. Corporations may find it financially profitable to adorn their wares with retro and nostalgic aesthetics.
