This Angular Staircase Creates an Optical Illusion with Painted Lines

This suspended steel staircase combines functionality with aesthetics, creating a truly unique version on this household necessity. The all-black staircase is unorthodox for a variety of reasons.

The staircase is also pushed against the wall and slightly turns at it makes its way up the stairs. Black painted lines on the wall beside the stairs create an optical illusion as though they are railings to protect you from falling when walking up. Upon using the steel staircase, you will find that these lines are simply paintings, leaving an open space between the stairs and the floor below.

Apart from serving its purpose, this floating staircase is a great example of how functional pieces can also be used as sculptural art in contemporary spaces.
