Smeeters is a friendship-centered matchmaking app that hails from Paris and aims to match up like-minded social groups. Pairing up evenly balanced groups of four to six individuals, Smeeters encourages the two groups to meet for drinks and hopefully kickstart several new friendships, or even relationships.

The Smeeters concept is decidedly low-risk, with very little deterrence for participants, especially if they are concerned with feeling awkward. Since Smeeters facilitates meet-ups in a group setting, many individuals find that if there is no initial "spark" between them and any of the participants, the group setting quickly dispenses any need for awkwardness.

The intriguing concept is one of many mobile applications that help adults form meaningful real-world friendships in a busy modern experience often defined by what device one is using.
