What a powerful campaign!

With a slogan of “Get Unhooked”, these print ads from NHS smokefree show young guys and girls literally hooked. And by hooked I mean a painful hook up their lips.

The ads say “The average smoker needs over five thousand cigarrettes a year. Get unhooked” and provide contact information for professional help to quit smoking.

I think it’s a captivating campaign that not only grabs the attention with its powerful imagery, but also provides a solution to the problem.

This anti-smoking campaign is on air since 2007; the campaign was on most magazines and newspapers in UK last fall. So it's not as trendsetting or as new as you may think.

urban, it just made it to adsoftheworld this past week. you can follow the via link to the ad page and see its april 2008. it might be fall 2007 when it hit UK, but its 2008 that it reached the world audience. TH is a global site. And telling by its ranking, obviously many readers didnt know about it and read it. the trend didnt claim to be trendsetting, it described it as "powerful"

Urban, I think on the 'BarCodes' post that you found today was pretty mainstream and worth bumping (especially given the international awards). But I don't recall this post hitting the media outside the UK. Some of the best posts have been hot in a given geography for a while, so (for all trend hunters) if you seee a unique campaign in your own country, it might still be worth posting if you can't see the innovation proliferating throughout the net.
