‘Meat after Meat Joy’ is a quaint and esoteric meat-themed exhibit that opened recently at the Daneyal Mahmood Gallery in New York City. Boing Boing describes the exhibit as a collection of “...photographs, sculptures, and multimedia pieces that use, or comment on, raw meat, the concept of meat, its symbolism and viscera.”

I don’t pretend to understand the esoteric and enigmatic nature of this work. Raw meat and its relationship to the human body as an art medium is not a topic that keeps me awake at night—but I’d be curious enough to go and see this exhibit.

The exhibit will be on display from October 16th to November the 15th.

Meat After Meat Joy brings together the work of contemporary artists who use meat in their work... in order to investigate the paradoxical relationship meat has to the body. Meat combines flesh, skin, muscle, organs, blood - each with its own relationship to the body, yet meat's only reference to the body is as a once-upon-a-time living biological thing.
