In another effort to make the PS3 platform more attractive and gain ground against the competition Sony is introducing PlayTV. PlayTV has a dual digital tuner and provides an onscreen program guide and DVR controls. The service will initially only be available in the UK, France, Italy, Germany and Spain.
Storing recorded info on the PS3's hard drive, you can access and watch what you want when you want on your TV and your PSP. Via Wi-Fi you'll also be able to watch live TV and record remotely. No subscription fees, just an initial - as yet unconfirmed - purchase price. We hear it should be in the $200-$300 market, but that is just hearsay.
