Everyone hates YouTube preroll ads, especially (it appears) the driver in the clever Hyundai Preroll Skip Ad. In the short commercial, a driver is distracted by the 'Skip Ad' button. Not paying attention to the road ahead, he almost runs over two pedestrians. Thankfully for him, his Elantra is outfitted with an auto emergency braking system that alerts him to their presence.
Since the Hyundai Preroll Skip Ad is essentially telling a short yet engaging story, as well as acknowledging the viewer's own hatred of such commercials, people are tempted to watch it straight through. Conceived and executed by Innocean USA, the spot was creative directed by Jamin Duncan and Marcin Markiewicz. It would be interesting to see next time how the viewer can interact with such an ad.
