Garlic is a common ingredient to add to liquids like soups and olive oil, but it's not every day that you come across a garlic-flavored soda.

The idea from the Takko Garlic Center began as a product to be developed for the sake of fun and novelty, but 'Jats! Taccola' soon turned into a drink that's been surprisingly difficult to keep stocked on the shelves. After the 20,000 bottles from the first and second batch sold out, it was apparent that this unusual soda would be a hit. In fact, some stores in Japan are seeing such a high demand for the carbonated drink, they are limiting sales to 12 bottles per person.

As the Japanese town of Takko is known for its garlic, Jats! Taccola uses this famed ingredient to deliver a "subtle garlic taste" in the form of a carbonated drink.
