The new Spring Summer 2009 ad campaign for Prada by photographer Steven Meisel has a theme of queue. Yes, a queue!

But this isn’t your usual supermarket checkout queue. It’s a queue of top models wearing the items from the latest Prada collection and looking all fabulous and stuff.

The ads feature models Nimue Smit, Giedre Dukauskaite, Sigrid Agren, Toni Garrn, Katrin Thormann, Viktoriya Sasonkina and Ymre Stiekema.

I don’t know why, but for some reason these ads remind me of the famous Greek sculptures of the Parthenon pediments. Hey, queues at fashion retailers during big sales often result in fights, so there’s a common war theme. You can see a photographic recreation of these Greek sculptures by Eugenio Recuenco below.

This looks more like D&G;with it's busy and overpopulated sets than Prada which, if I'm not mistaken, likes to present it's stuff one model at a time.

Yup L, they are surely very different and more crowded than their previous FW08 campaign with Linda Evangilista as the only female model. I find the dynamics and interaction between these models in the 'queue' quite fascinating.
