Controversial, shocking and hilarious are all words one could use to describe the photography of Andrew B. Myers. The Toronto-based artist's work is packed full of pop culture references and nostalgic childhood images and objects, with an intelligent (and often dark or unexpected) twist.

Things that were once deemed innocent play things, like Nintendo games, a Rubik's cube and a game of Twister take on real life adult themes, as the photographs show Mario and Luigi kissing and a couple taking things to the "next step" on a Twister mat. Myers' work also reflects social movements and events, and comments on North American life with images of a broken "I Love New York" mug, and a row of VHS videotapes lined up like dominos.

Feed the pop culture fiend within, and check out the fantastic and powerful dark pop art of Andrew B. Myers.
