The top May 2016 sharing economy ideas highlights a number of emerging peer-to-peer platforms and clever marketing campaigns from top brands.

BMW has announced it will launch a flexible car-sharing platform in the United States called ReachNow that is modeled after its European version, DriveNow. The service has launched as a pilot program in Seattle and serves as the latest example of established brands expanding sharing economy initiatives in order to connect with consumers who are increasingly placing value on experiences rather than ownership.

In terms of innovative marketing campaigns launched by sharing economy brands, Airbnb stole the spotlight with a captivating promotion that offered a stay inside the Rio Olympic Arena. Part of the brand's always-interesting #NightAt campaign, the latest contest invited users to detail why they deserve to spend a night in the stadium with a view of the Olympic gymnastics facilities.
