Children are becoming as big of a consumer market as their parents and guardians, shown by these examples of global kid-targeted retail. Although they have always wanted the latest toys and gadgets, stores are now targeting kids in a more compelling manner. Whether that means appropriating their favorite cartoons or simple creating a colorful and imaginative environment that looks more like a playhouse than a shop, brands and retailers are becoming more tuned into what makes children tick.

Yet these examples of global kid-targeted retail also speak to their adult companions as well. For instance, the gender-neutral toy store in Harrods addresses parents' concerns for predisposing their offspring to social stereotypes and habits that will stay with them for the rest of their lives. It is important to strike a balance between both customers when creating a retail environment.
