36 Cyberpunk Innovations

From Steampunk Cell Phones to Cyborg Fashion

— November 29, 2008 — Tech
The cyberpunk subculture is one created from the fusion of punk and cybernetics. The cyberpunk genre gave birth to other popular subgenres like steampunk, biopunk and cyberpunk manga.

Cyberpunks delight in technology and the concept of an electronic society. Whether they are hackers or underground fashionistas, cyberpunks exude techno-savvy with a punk’s nihilistic attitude.

The cyberpunk subculture has spilled into popular culture, where red carpet divas like Beyonce have been spotted wearing cyberpunk jewelry. And steampunked designs have become so widespread, this year saw the first steampunk convention in California to showcase them all.
